The exceptionally talented Kelvin van der Linde secured the 2013 Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup with a win. The 17-year old Johannesburg lad claimed victory in the final race of the season at the Hockenheimring, finishing 1,0 seconds ahead of his closest title rival Kasper H. Jensen of Denmark.
Van der Linde, who became SA’s youngest national champion when he won the 2012 VW Polo Cup title, took five wins of nine races in the German series. He usurps Sweden’s Ola Nilsson as the new champion.
Another South African, Jordan Pepper, finished third in the overall standings and claimed the rookie cup title in the process.
