The teaser trailer for the series gives fans a glimpse into the emotional journey of the three-time Formula 1 world champion. The footage centres on Senna’s victory at the 1991 Brazilian Grand Prix, a race that was significant as it marked his first win at his home track. By this point, he had already claimed two world championships but had yet to achieve a victory in Brazil. The teaser is set against a backdrop of his youth and career, with flashbacks projected onto his iconic yellow helmet. The trailer culminates with Senna’s ecstatic screams of victory, famously broadcasted during the race’s live coverage. Even the most stoic racing fans might find themselves moved by the raw emotion in those moments.

Fellow countryman Gabriel Leone will portray Senna in the series, which also stars Matt Mella as rival racer Alain Prost and Pamela Tome as Senna’s then-girlfriend Xuxa. According to Netflix, the series will offer a fictionalized retelling of Senna’s journey, both in the world of racing and his personal life. The story begins with Senna’s early career in Formula Ford and continues through to his time in Formula 1.
As many motorsport fans know, Senna’s life was cut short on May 1, 1994, nearly 30 years ago from the release of this trailer. He died after crashing at high speed during the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola. His car left the track on a high-speed corner, hitting the wall at over 100 mph. Although he was airlifted to the hospital, his time of death was recorded at the moment of impact.

After his memorable win at the 1991 Brazilian Grand Prix, Senna would go on to win his third world championship that year, becoming the youngest three-time F1 champion at age 31. He also holds the record for the youngest driver to claim back-to-back titles in 1990 and 1991. Senna’s legacy continues to resonate in the world of motorsport, and this upcoming miniseries aims to capture the spirit of his remarkable career.
