Land Rover has officially launched its new Discovery Sport at the Paris Motor Show and disclosed the technical specifications. We have covered the details of the Discovery Sport (read here), the Freelander’s replacement, but were still uncertain about the naming convention. Land Rover is adamant that this is not merely a replacement for the Freelander but the first (compact) member of an all-new Discovery family.
The powertrains will consist of 2,0-litre turbopetrol and 2,2-litre turbodiesel engines connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The diesel derivative will also be available with a six-speed manual option.
No word on pricing yet but expect the Discovery Sport to be available in South Africa as early as March 2015.
