We have seen them being tested locally and we have seen the informative videos regarding the inner workings of the BMW i8 and i3. We have even driven the i3 late last year. All this was part of the momentum towards the local introduction of these cars on the South African market.
Now, a spokesperson for BMW SA has confirmed to us that market demand has increased to a level higher than initially expected. This is especially the case in important markets such as Europe and the USA.
The result is that local introduction of these cars (only a small number of i8s will be coming to SA anyway) have been postponed to March 2015.
