After all the speculation and exhaust sounds we have heard on videos, AMG has finally revealed the technical specifications of its upcoming sports car, the AMG GT.
The 4,0-litre, V8, twin-turbo engine (internal codename M178) will produce 375 kW at 6 250 r/min and 650 N.m from a low 1 750 r/min to 4 750 r/min. Highlights from the new engine includes zirconium-refined cylinder head, dry sump lubrication and a Bosch piezo injection system.
The turbochargers are supplied by Borg Warner which are mounted on top of the engine which produce a maximum pressure of 2,3 bar. This engine will debut in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG replacement, early next year. Next in line will be the C63 AMG. However, expect the engine to filter to other AMG models as well, although in different states of tune.
