Mazda has finally revealed its new Mazda2 hatchback. As production has started of the new Mazda2, the planned launch in the company’s local market is set to happen in the next couple of months.
Details are extremely thin on the ground. The Japanese manufacturer only confirmed that the Mazda2 will premiere in Europa with an all-new 1,5-litre turbodiesel engine. There will also be a 1,5-litre petrol engine. Both units will feature the company’s Skyactiv technology. Both automatic and manual transmissions will be offered while the infotainment system in the inteior will be Mazda’s MZD connect in-car system.
If the previous Mazda2 is anything to go by, the new model will be a worthy contender for the Ford Fiesta, Volkswagen Polo, Peugeot 208 and the Renault Clio. Let’s also hope that Mazda will this time develop a car to do battle with the likes of the Polo GTI and the Ford Fiesta ST.
