Ford Motors South Africa has announced that its Focus hatch and saloon line-up have been expanded from eight to twelve models, while the latest infotainment system finds its way into Trend models and a capless refuelling system is now standard across the range.
Both the Focus hatchback and saloon ranges, respectively, have been bolstered by the addition of a brace of new models. The hatchback range recieves a pair of 2,0-litre TDCi Trend models; one coupled with a six-speed manual and another with Ford’s six-speed Powershift dual-clutch transmission.
The saloon range sees the introduction of new petrol-engined models in the 1,6 Ti-VCT Ambiente with Powershift – a first in the Ambiente trim – and a 2,0-litre GDi Trend coupled with a five-speed manual ‘box.
The 2,0 TDCi develops 120 kW/340 N.m, while the 1,6 Ti-VCT petrol makes 92 kW/159 N.m and the 2,0 GDi develops 125 kW/200 N.m.
To recap, the Ambiente specification forms the entry-point into the Focus family and benefits from such features as manual air-conditioning, electric windows, dual front airbags, Torque Vectoring Control and ABS with EBD, ESP and hill start. The update also ushers in colour-coded door handles and wing mirror caps.
Trend adds the latest iteration of Ford’s SYNC infotainment system (Bluetooth/voice control/audio streaming/CD/USB/smartphone compatability), side and curtain airbags, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, cruise control and a range of model-specific alloy wheels.
