Marking the Diamond Jubilee of the Mustang, Ford is celebrating its iconic muscle car with the release of a special-edition variant, the Mustang 60th Anniversary appearance package. Exclusively available with Mustang GT models (in both coupé and convertible guises), the commemorative appearance package features an array of model-specific elements, which, according to the Blue Oval brand, enhance the timeless design cues of its popular pony car. As a reminder, the Mustang GT is equipped with Ford’s familiar 5.0-litre V8 engine, which, in the latest-generation model produces 362 kW and 567 N.m.
“We drew inspiration from the original Mustang and infused some of its most iconic design elements into this limited production run. The Mustang’s design DNA shines through in this multi-generational tribute,” said Matt Simpson, Ford Enthusiast Vehicles general manager.
This limited-edition Mustang is fitted with a bespoke grille, which, with its mesh design, harks back to the item found on the 1964 Mustang. Silver-coloured air intakes are also fitted to the latter item. The Mustang 60th Anniversary sits on a set of 20-inch alloys, finished in Dark Gravity Grey. The wheels also feature Vermillion Red, retro-themed aluminium centre caps as a nod to the 1965 Mustang.

In addition to the above-mentioned elements, this special edition’s bodywork has received exclusive side graphics, which can be had in Iconic Silver or Vermillion Red, and colour-coded side mirrors. An array of 60th Anniversary badges can also be found, outside and in.
“The design was directly inspired by the clean silhouette of the original car,” said Stefan Taylor, senior designer at Ford. “During the design process, we looked closely at the finely detailed elements of the 1965 Mustang, like the fender badges and wheel centre caps. Our focus was capturing the feel of the ‘65, while also staying true to the Mustang as the modern sportscar that it is.”
