CAR readers are always on the lookout for new and interesting cars. Avid reader and friend of CAR staffers, Wesley Jacobs, was paying attention today when he spotted the new generation Mercedes-Benz S-class driving around Cape Town.
The all-new model, due for release at the very end of this year, was seen driving along the M3 with two gentlemen, who are most likely of German descent, at the helm. The car in question had very little cladding to disguise the bodywork underneath and one can ascertain the general shape. The car’s trapezoidal quad-tailpipe arrangement would suggest that it is an AMG derivative.
When preparing for our annual 2013 new model guide (CAR, Dec 2012) Mercedes’ officials confirmed that the new range will employ the same set of engines as the outgoing model and feature a wide range of innovative safety technologies. Expect the line-up to start with a S350 BlueTec and culminate with the S65 AMG. There’s currently is no word regarding an official launch date, but it’s believed that the new S-Class will arrive in the final quarter of 2013.
