The BMW Group introduced the latest iteration of the iconic Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S in the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. This all-new Cooper offers improved packaging, a brace of turbocharged three and four-cylinder powerplants and a plethora of additional onboard safety and convenience systems. For what the Cooper has lost in terms of brand-specific quirkiness, the compelling performance of the standard model — now powered by a rorty 100 kW/220 N.m 1,5-litre turbopetrol, better ride/handling balance of particularly the S model, as well as a significantly modernised driver interface, the Cooper has come of age in its third iteration and grown up in parallel with its prospective clientele. The range will go on sale in South Africa in May 2014, with prices projected to start at around R280k for the standard Cooper model.
