With the Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 officially in production and the T.50S track car making significant strides in its development journey, all eyes are now on the “entry-level” T.33. This model , positioned slightly below its McLaren F1-inspired counterpart, the T.50, is gearing up to make its mark with a 454 kW, 3.9-liter, 11 100 r/min Cosworth V-12 engine, despite being marginally heavier and less potent than its sibling. With South African-born Gordon Murray and his team targeting a weight hovering around 1 088 kg, the T.33 promises a thrilling driving experience that stays true to the brand’s ethos of lightweight performance.

In terms of performance, the T.33 boasts an engine closely related to the high-revving powerhouse found in the T.50, albeit tweaked to deliver enhanced low-end torque as demonstrated in the below video. Dario Franchitti, the Scottish-born triple victor of the Indy 500 championship was the test driver allowing a glimpse into the completely stripped-out first “mule” car. Viewers are treated to an up-close encounter with the model, affectionately named James. Despite the chilly weather conditions, Franchitti delicately navigates the track, occasionally teasing the car’s capabilities with controlled manoeuvres that showcase its agility and power.

Inside the mule car, simplicity reigns supreme, with a minimalist cockpit featuring switches and panels borrowed from the T.50. The absence of unnecessary clutter accentuates the raw driving experience, allowing enthusiasts to immerse themselves fully in the symphony of the V-12 engine’s exhaust note. As Franchitti pushes the V-12 to towards its redline, the sonorous motor comes to life, offering a tantalizing glimpse of what’s to come from the T.33.
